| | | Tomatina 'Tomato festival'
The version which is most true to history says that all began in 1945, when the local youth found themselves in the village square, where "la tomatina" is traditionally celebrated. The authorities and the local band were marching through the square in a parade of "gigantes y cabezudos" ("giants and giant-heads"), when a group of these youth, who wanted to participate in the procession pushed those who were wearing fancy dress.
